Audio Streaming
Audio Streaming is on demand streaming of audio only media assetts. Live audio streaming can also be performed using the Streaming Radio or Live Event Streaming products. The on demand media is normally provided to Prostream via browser upload or FTP transfer. This file is formatted as MP3 or WMA at a required bit rate with either 1, 2, 5 or 7 audio channels when the file is encoded. The Prostream Audio Streaming system can deliver audio at bit rates from 16kps up to 320kps with ease depending on the quality required
All delivery provided by Prostream can be delivered to Flash, Real Audio, Windows Media or Silverlight players with each player having it's advantages and disadvantages over the other. In most cases for simple website deployment Flash and Silverlight will cover 99% of all audio stream requirements, but Prostream specialists can aid in this decision if & when required.
Audio Streaming can provide an instant play experience if the internet connection bandwidth available to the listener is greater than that of the stream they are requesting. This experience is able to provide a simultaneous playback with minimum delay and is perfect for 'talking websites' and 'listen again services'. You can also provide interactive navigation for your content, so people can select to skip or reply parts of your audio as they wish.
How do we bill our clients for Audio Streaming?
The billing cycle for audio streaming is a similar format to that of Mobile Phone Contracts. We commit you to an amount of data and then we charge you a cost for the excess data you use on a weekly basis. The more data that you commit to, the more cost effective the excess data fees become. This system has the ability to check the current consumption in real time via the customer portal. All of this information is detailed in the price list which you can apply for by emailing or telephoning us using the details on the 'contact us' page.
